NBVE & NBV INTRODUCTION
NBVE and NBV germicidal lamps are devices basing on UV-C radiation. They kill bacteria, viruses, molds, yeasts and all the other microorganisms. The main difference between NBVE and NBV series of the germicidal lamps is their construction and working purpose.
NBVE single purpose lamps disinfect the air in the presence of people. These devices are completely safe.
NBVE dual purpose lamps are combination of NBVE single purpose lamps and NBV direct radiation lamps. They disinfect both: the air and the surface (by external UV-C bulb). Both functions work separately, what allows to be inside the room during the air disinfection with flow function. During the work of the direct function, people, animals, plants are not allowed to be inside the room.
NBV direct radiation lamps disinfect air and surface during the absence of people, animals and plants in the rooms.

NBVE®
NBVE® series of UV-C flow virucidal and bactericidal lamps by Ultraviol are safe for humans and animals because the biocidal UV-C radiation does not go beyond the lamp disinfection chamber. They can be used in the presence of people and animals in the room. UV-C flow germicidal lamps by Ultraviol are an effective way to fight COVID-19.
Single purpose UV-C flow germicidal lamps
with disinfection chamber guarantee completely safe disinfection. Contaminated air is drawn by a fan – through a filter catching dust and other contaminations into the disinfection chamber. The UV-C radiation intensity and the time during which air remains in the disinfection chamber are selected so that air blown out from the lamp is practically free of microorganisms. Velocity of air flow through the disinfection chamber is therefore determined as a compromise between a desire to disinfect the greatest volume of air per time unit and germicidal effectiveness. It should also be noted that the forced flow of air results in a smooth circulation of air in the room and thus disinfection of air in the whole room.
This is a safe way to get rid of viruses, bacteria, molds and fungi from the air.
Dual purpose UV-C flow germicidal lamps
with an external radiator of direct action guarantee a full range of disinfection. It gives a possibility of intensive disinfection of the air in the presence of people (UV-C flow chamber – function I) and direct disinfection of the whole room when the staff and patients stay outside the room (UV-C direct radiation tube – function II). Disinfection of the external radiator is similar to standard germicidal lamps NBV series. UV-C radiation disinfects the air and surfaces in the room (walls, table tops, objects, etc.) Thanks to its nature it also reaches different nooks as reflected light.
Both functions can work independently from each other. Dual-function UV-C NBVE lamps provide double germicidal effect.
NBVE® LAMPS WORKING SCHEMES:
NBV®
Direct radiation germicidal lamps type NBV are designed to prevent primary and secondary infections of patients and medical personnel caused by airborne pathogenic microorganisms (pathogens). Using direct radiation germicidal in the rooms where infected patients or patients with immune deficiencies are staying, significantly reduces the probability of spread of infection by air. Raising the level of microbiological purity of the air and the rooms helps to destroy and reduce impact of existing outbreaks of pathogens.
NBV® LAMPS WORKING SCHEMES:
- the lamp 15 W on the surface up to 8 m2
- the lamp 30 W on the surface up to 15 m2
- the lamp 2x30 W on the surface up to 22 m2
- the lamp 55 W on the surface up to 18 m2
- the lamp 2x55 W on the surface up to 27 m2
*in the interior height of 2.5m to 3.0m in the room conditions.
Effective time required to sterilise the room depends on the power of the lamp, time and dimensions of the room. For example operating theatres equipped with direct UV-C irradiation NBV lamps are exposed to UV-C even for 15-20 minutes during the breaks between the surgeries. Even the exposure lasting for couple of minutes can increase the level of microbial purity of the air and surfaces.
Remember the most important facts about direct UV-C irradiation:
WHAT IS THE UV-C RADIATION?
UVGI – Ultraviolet Germicidal Irradiation is a disinfection method that uses short-wavelength ultraviolet UV-C light to kill and permanently inactivate microorganisms by destroying nucleic acids and disrupting their DNA, leaving them unable to perform vital cellular functions
Ultraviolet radiation (UV) is a part of electromagnetic spectrum similar to X-radiation, radio waves or visible light. For practical purposes the ultraviolet radiation has been divided into three bands:
UV-A radiation is contained in radiant energy from the sun. It activates photochemical and pigment-creating processes. Its erythemal effect is of no importance.
UV-B radiation is used mainly in theraphy. It creates provitamin D and causes both pigmentation and erythemal effect.
UV-C radiation has a strong germicidal and embryocidal effect. It can cause burning of the skin (erythemal effect) and inflammation of conjunctiva (conjuctival effect). UV-C radiation can be produced in germicidal lamps by a passage of an electric arc through a low-pressure mercury vapour (germicidal radiators). Radiation of a wavelength below 200 nm produces ozone in air. This is a harmful phenomenon. To prevent this noxious effect, the germicidal bulbs (TUV by PHILIPS or HNS by OSRAM - worldwide leading manufacturers) used in our lamps, are enlcosed in a covering made of special quartz glass which has high transmittance coefficient for germicidal radiation. It also absorbs undesirable UV radiation of a wavelength below 200 nm.
A - the greatest germcidal effect is achieved
at radiation wavelengths between 250 and 270 nm
B - nucleic acids absorption curve
C - UV-C radiation wavelengths emitted by UV-C bulbs
THE INTENDED USE OF UV-C GERMICIDAL LAMPS:
The application of germicidal lamps is one of the most effective methods of disinfection. NBVE and NBV germicidal lamps emit the UV-C radiation of the wavelength 253.7 nm. UV-C has the strongest impact on DNA and RNA of bacteria, viruses, moulds, mushrooms and all different microorganisms. Due to the great effectiveness of NBVE and NBV germicidal lamps, these devices are used in every facility which requires highest quality of microbial purity.
Selection of quantity and the power of the lamps depends on many factors:
The user's manual of the lamps contains the detailed description of ways and the methods of applying germicidal lamps.
OUR EXPERIENCE:
Ultraviol's over 25 years of experience in manufacturing germicidal and virucidal UV-C germicidal lamps resulted in becoming a undisputed leader in the market. We are experts in disinfection by means of UV-C irradiation. That is why Ultraviol NBVE UV-C lamps are necessary equipment in every medical facility during hard times of COVID-19 pandemic.
Germicidal UV-C lamps are very popular in polish hospitals. We are proud to support doctors, nurses and every other member of medical staff in hard times of the COVID-19 pandemic. The effectiveness of our UV-C lamps is scientificly proven by Prof. Waclaw Dabrowski Institute of Agriculture and Food Biotechnology – State Research Institute.
Coronavirus remided us allover the world that level of microbial purity is really important. Ultraviol ensure highest quality and effectiveness of UV-C flow lamps. Medical professionals and other non-medical customers express excellent feedback about using the NBVE series lamps.
Ultraviol UV-C disinfection flow lamps are applied in operating rooms in every polish hospital. They increase the level of air microbial purity and prevent from primary and secondary infections from the air. The flow function disinfects the air while people are in the room. When they leave, the external UV-C tube can be switched on so as to disinfect both the air and the surface. This is effective and relatively cheap method.
NBVE flow lamps are safe and user-friendly devices disinfecting air. The application of UV-C germicidal lamps is popular not only in medical units, but also in:
Direct UV-C irradiation emited by external UV-C tube in NBVE 110/55 PL or NBVE 60/30 PL lamp is very effective in reducing bacterias, viruses, molds, fungi and every other microorganisms. Users have to remember that UV-C is harmfuf for the skin and eyes, that is why it is crucial to use external UV-C tube only when people are outside!
The best and safest way to keep the air constantly disinfected is a single function flow lamp. NBVE 60 PL model of UV-C flow lamp is a good example of device which can be used while people are around. The pictures below present a regular day in kindergarten in Poland.
